CompCare Polo Cup | Bishop SCORES DOUBLE PODIUM AT ZWARTKOPS

Angri Racing's Tate Bishop claimed a double podium at Zwartkops Raceway yesterday (April 23) as the Cape Town teenager continued his charge on the 2022 CompCare Polo Cup Championship.
Arriving in Pretoria with limited knowledge of the circuit, Bishop again asserted himself as a championship contender by qualifying second on the grid for the opening eight-lap race. Getting off to a quick start Bishop headed into Turn 1 alongside the pole-sitter but could not capitalise on his advantage heading into the Turn 2 right-hander. Having to run a wider line, Bishop briefly lost a position but immediately reclaimed it on the run down to Turn 4. The double national Senior Max karting champion would be engaged in a tussle for the podium for the remainder of the race. However, with one less push-to-pass available, Bishop could not fend off the challenge and finished third.
Starting from the pole position for Race 2, Bishop made the most of his starting position, grabbing the holeshot to lead the race for five of the ten laps. Again unable to defend his position, Bishop hung on to take his second podium on the day as he crossed the finish line as runner up. After the race times were combined, the Parklands College pupil claimed the fourth overall position.
"We're pretty chuffed with the overall results this weekend. I would have loved to win both races, but unfortunately, I could not fend off Dawie (van der Merwe) or Charl (Visser), having one less push to pass. We are pretty satisfied with the result, considering our lack of racing here and leave with a good haul of points in our championship bid and now sit one point behind the leader. I must thank the lads at Angri Racing for the effort once again. The boys are amazing," said Bishop.
Round 3 is scheduled to take place on May 27-28 at Aldo Scribante Racetrack, Gqeberha.
